‘Big Bang Theory’ Actress Kaley Cuoco Developed Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from Holding Her Infant Daughter

First-time mother Kaley Cuoco has made significant adjustments to her daily routine since the arrival of her daughter Matilda this spring, revealing that she has developed carpal tunnel syndrome from frequently holding her baby.

In a video posted on her trainer Ryan Sorenson’s Instagram account, the “Big Bang Theory” actress showed off the hand braces she has been wearing to manage her condition. She explained that holding her baby has led to severe wrist and hand pain, which she described as a common issue for new parents.

Cuoco discussed how she is adapting her workouts to accommodate her injury, saying she now does exercises that do not involve using her hands or bearing weight on her wrists. She acknowledged that this approach may seem unusual but is necessary for her recovery.

Carpal tunnel syndrome, as defined by the Cleveland Clinic, causes pain, numbness, and tingling in the hand and wrist due to pressure on the median nerve. Cuoco’s trainer confirmed her diagnosis in the post’s caption.

Cuoco and her partner, actor Tom Pelphrey, welcomed their first child together in March. They celebrated their first anniversary a few weeks after Matilda’s birth.

In a recent interview, Pelphrey shared a humorous anecdote about his initial unfamiliarity with Cuoco’s fame. When he introduced her to his family in New Jersey, his mother’s partner, a fan of “The Big Bang Theory,” kept calling Cuoco by her character’s name, Penny. Pelphrey admitted he was unaware of her television success at the time but has since recognized her talent.
