Jamie Lynn Spears was compelled to hide from “relentless” paparazzi at the age of 16 while pregnant, describing the experience as “horrible.”

Jamie Lynn Spears, the younger sister of pop star Britney Spears, became pregnant at 16 during her time on the popular Nickelodeon series “Zoey 101.” Her announcement in 2007 shocked many, and she faced intense scrutiny from the public and media.

In a candid moment on “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!,” Spears shared how challenging this period was. She felt the judgment was particularly harsh due to her role on a children’s show. “I had to go hide away for a long time,” she explained, detailing how she moved to Mississippi to escape the relentless attention of paparazzi. “I had 20 paparazzi on me every day. They wouldn’t leave me alone. They came and lived in Mississippi, in the middle of nowhere. It was horrible.”

Spears was determined to keep her baby despite the criticism and pressure she faced. She felt compelled to raise her child on her own, even considering emancipation from her parents due to their conflicting views. “They were just sad about the situation,” she said, reflecting on her parents’ response.

During this difficult time, Spears kept some of her actions private from her mother, telling her she was going to doctor’s appointments when she was actually consulting with a lawyer. Eventually, her mother allowed her more independence when she brought the lawyer home.

Now 32, Spears lives in Louisiana with her daughter Maddie, who is the same age Jamie Lynn was when she gave birth. She married Jamie Watson in 2014, and they had their first child together, Ivy, in 2018. This summer, Spears reunited with her “Zoey 101” cast for the sequel film “Zoey 102,” which premiered on Paramount+.
